Contents

The facility is administered by the City of Mississauga, and the municipal address is 2475 Truscott Dr, Mississauga, ON L5J 2B5.
Clarkson Community Centre first opened on February 28, 1971. The original architect was Donald E. Skinner of Port Credit.
The complex has been renovated and expanded several times, first in 1988, and then later in 2002, when a public library was added.
The original facility had no swimming pool, but an aquatic centre was finally added during an extensive redevelopment that took place during 2010 – 2011.
The latest redevelopment increased the size of the building, and today Clarkson Community Centre has approximately 26,500 square feet of recreational amenities.
Architects for the latest redevelopment were MJMA Architecture & Design of Toronto. The building has been designed to meet Mississauga’s new Green Developments Standard for sustainability.
Clarkson Community Centre is located in a 1970’s classic suburban area of Mississauga, not far from the QEW highway and Southdown Road. It is technically in a neighbourhood called Park Royal, which is a neighbourhood within the neighbourhood of Clarkson. You don’t hear Park Royal mentioned much these days.
Facilities
This facility serves both the Clarkson neighbourhood, as well as surrounding areas, and it includes an indoor ice rink, an indoor aquatics centre, a gymnasium, and a public library.
In addition, there are several multi-purpose rooms, including a 100 seat auditorium, that are rentable for everything from company meetings to children’s birthday parties.
Arena

The ice rink is called the Clarkson Arena. It has an ice surface of 80 ft. x 180 ft. and provides stadium seating for 534 spectators. In addition, it has six dressing rooms, a pro shop and a snack bar.
The arena closed while the community centre was being renovated from 2010-2011, and the rink itself was also extensively renovated in 2020.
Today it is home to the Mississauga Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League, and also provides leisure and family skating sessions through its affiliation with the community centre.
Clarkson Arena is open seasonally each year from late September to mid-March.
Fitness Centre
While Clarkson Community Centre has no dedicated fitness centre, many of the scheduled group exercise classes take place either in the gym, or in the multi-purpose rooms.
Group exercise classes include Zumba and Zumba Gold, Pilates, yoga, and gentle low impact programs.
Gymnasium

The double gymnasium at Clarkson Community Centre offers a variety of activities including badminton, basketball, pickleball, volleyball, and indoor soccer.

The therapeutic pool has a depth of 0.90 to 1.8 metres, and features a hydro bench and accessible ramp. The warm water is ideal for people in post-rehabilitation or who are looking for a gentle exercise program.
