Zonta Meadows Park Mississauga

While many parks in Mississauga are located near a natural attraction like Lake Ontario or the Credit River, Zonta Meadows Park is different.

Zonta Meadows is pretty much entirely manmade. It is a relatively modest neighborhood urban park that opened in 2001.

The park features a winding walking trail, a thoughtfully designed children’s playground area, expansive open spaces, and free public tennis courts.

What makes this public space special is that it is in the heart of the Square One City Centre area of Mississauga.

The park was upgraded in 2018 through the efforts of the Zonta Club of Mississauga.

The Zonta Club of Mississauga is the local branch of Zonta International, which is a leading global organization that promotes the empowerment of women worldwide through service and advocacy.

The park has several notable features:

  • a specially designed, barrier-free, fully accessible children’s playground
  • public tennis courts (without night lighting)
  • open green spaces with separate football and soccer fields

Despite being close to the Square One Shopping Centre, which is the largest shopping mall in Ontario, and despite being next door to over 70 highrise condos and commercial towers in the city centre, Zonta Meadows provides a good escape from all the city noise and activity.

Square One Shopping Centre is only a couple of blocks to the east.

There is a lot of urban activity in the area. It is one of the more densely populated areas in the Greater Toronto Area.

Zonta Meadows is one of the Mississauga parks that is very popular on the weekends. This is when you will find many families from the dozens of nearby highrise condos enjoying the facilities.

Parks in urban areas present opportunities for both physical activity and recreation, and they promote community engagement and social interaction.

Public spaces such as Zonta Meadows Park provide visitors with an important connection to nature, as well as a decent array of recreational features.
