Mississauga Secondary was originally founded in 2005, and has gradually expanded as the population of north Mississauga and the surrounding area has grown. Today the school is rated one of the better public high schools in Ontario. Mississauga SS offers a wide assortment of academic courses for students.

Explore High Skills (EHS)
Explore High Skills (EHS) is a Peel District School Board program that serves as a precursor to the SHSM program. It is available for grade 9 and 10 students. EHS offers career-focused programs in specific sectors. The EHS program at Mississauga Secondary School is for the Health and Wellness sector.
SHSM
Mississauga Secondary School offers a Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program in Health and Wellness for students in grade 11 and 12.
The Health and Wellness SHSM courses provide students with a good foundation for future careers such as kinesiologist, child care worker, audiologist, fitness instructor, doctor, nurse, physiotherapist, youth care worker, hospital porter, and medical technician.
French Language
Although Mississauga Secondary School does not offer French Immersion or Extended French classes, it does provide a basic Core French curriculum,

Mississauga SS offers extensive English as a Second Language courses (ESL).
OYAP
The school is also a participant in the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) for skilled trades.

For recreation, Mississauga Secondary School has a large gymnasium, and a full assortment of track and field facilities. The school is located in a newer residential area of the city,, and as a result, there are few shopping and dining options nearby. The 401 and 407 highways provide easy access for commuters.
