Churchill Meadows Community Centre Mississauga is one of the newest community centres in the city, having opened on September 20, 2021. The building is 74,000 square feet in size.
Architects for the development were MacLennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects, Ltd. (MJMA) of Toronto. The unique design won numerous awards, including the 2024 Ontario Lieutenant Governor’s Medal for Architecture, and the building is designated LEED Silver for sustainability.
The recreation centre is located within the Churchill Meadows neighbourhood of northwest Mississauga. Nearest major intersection is Erin Centre Blvd. and Ninth Line.
Facilities
Church Meadows Community Centre shares an address with the Mattamy Sports Park. The community centre itself features an indoor aquatics centre, a fitness studio, a triple gymnasium, a teaching kitchen, and rentable meeting rooms, while the sports park has artificial turf soccer fields with night lighting, including one with a seasonal dome, plus outdoor basketball courts, a skateboard park, and a playground.
Expansion
Churchill Meadows CC has entered into partnership with Premier Racquet Clubs and Tennis Canada to add 6 all-weather domed tennis courts (including pickleball) as part of a new phase of development of the sports park. There is also a full size cricket pitch with night lighting planned.
The tennis courts opened in November, 2024, and the cricket pitch is currently a work in progress.
Community access is available at both facilities.
Arena
While there is no ice rink within the community centre, you will find one nearby at the Erin Mills Twin Arena at 3205 Unity Drive.
Fitness Studio
The Churchill Meadows Fitness Studio offers group exercise classes including Zumba and Zumba Gold, Pilates, boot camps, yoga, and gentle low impact programs.
Gymnasium
The triple gymnasium at Churchill Meadows CC offers a variety of activities including badminton, basketball, pickleball, volleyball, and indoor soccer.
Indoor Pool
The Churchill Meadows swimming pool is an indoor 25 metre, 6 lane rectangular pool. There is also a therapeutic warm water pool beside the main pool.
The therapeutic pool has a depth of 0.90 to 1.8 metres, and features a hydro bench and accessible ramp. The 33°C water is ideal for people in post-rehabilitation or who are looking for a gentle exercise program.
Male, female and family change rooms are equipped with day lockers.
