Milton is a town in Ontario, Canada. It is part of Halton Region in the Greater Toronto Area. Its size is 366.61 square kilometers.
Milton traces its founding back to May 17, 1818, when an immigrant from England, Jasper Martin, and his family, settled here.
Between 2001 and 2011, Milton was the fastest growing municipality in Canada, with a 71.4% increase in population from 2001 to 2006.
Its population was estimated to be 133,000 in 2021.
It remains one of the fastest growing communities in Ontario.
Milton is located 40 km west of downtown Toronto and is reachable by Ontario Highway 401.
It is the western terminus for the Milton GO Train commuter line, provided by GO Transit.
Milton is situated north of Oakville, and west of Mississauga. Parts of Milton are on the Niagara Escarpment, and the Bruce Trail.
Schools in Milton are primarily members of the Halton District School Board, and the Halton Catholic District School Board.
