Partnership
The school is part of a mixed-use complex that was built through a partnership between the Halton District School Board, the City of Burlington, and the Burlington Public Library system.
The facility at 3040 Tim Dobbie Drive includes the high school, plus a community centre known as the Haber Community Centre, as well as the Alton branch of the Burlington Public Library system.
Through the partnership, students are able to access eight competition-sized gymnasiums, three outdoor fields, plus the public library.
Who is Dr. Frank J. Hayden?
Dr. Frank J. Hayden (b.1930) was born in Windsor and grew up in St. Catharines, Ontario, where he was an enthusiastic and gifted athlete. After graduating from university, he began a long and distinguished academic career teaching at several universities, where he was a Professor of Physical Education and Kinesiology.
Dr. Hayden is best known as the founder of the Special Olympics. The Special Olympics were founded in 1968 to encourage people with intellectual disabilities to participate in athletics.
For his many achievements, and especially for his work with the Special Olympics, Dr. Hayden has received many awards, including:

- Order of Canada
- Honorary and Permanent Membership on the Canadian Olympic Committee
- Canadian Sports Hall of Fame
