Aldershot School

Aldershot School, also known as Aldershot High School,  is a public high school in Burlington Ontario. It offers high school classroom education for grades 9-12, as well as middle school classroom education for grades 7-8. AHS is a member of the Halton District School Board.

There are currently 719 students registered in grades 9-12, and 205 students registered in grades 7-8 at this legacy facility.

The current Aldershot School (AHS) campus was built in 1961, although the school has roots going back to the 1870’s. Today it is noted for its high level of academic achievement.

Aldershot School is a relatively small school by today’s standards, which is not a bad thing. It is rated as an excellent public high school, and it offers a wide assortment of courses for students.

I-STEM

I-STEM is a regional program in Halton for students in grades 9-12. Students develop skills related to engineeri​ng design and design thinking, entrepreneurial thinking skills and global competencies. Students learn to be prepared for technological change and disruption, globalization and shifting demographics.​​​

The letters in I-STEM stand for Innovation, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Other high schools in Halton Region offering the I-STEM program include T.A. Blakelock High School in Oakville, and Elsie MacGill Secondary School in Milton.

SHSM

Aldershot High School offers 4 different Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) programs: Arts & CultureEnvironment, Health & Wellness, and Transportation.

French Language

Aldershot School offers a French Immersion program for middle school students only – grades 7-8. There is currently no French Immersion program for students in grades 9-12, although the high school does offer basic courses in Core French for these grades. French Immersion for grades 9-12 is available at nearby Burlington Central High School.

ESL

Aldershot HS provides extensive English as a Second Language (ESL) programs led by teachers with substantial experience working with students in ESL.

OYAP

The school is also a participant in the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) for skilled trades.

For recreation, Aldershot High School has three gymnasiums, and a  full assortment of track and field facilities.

It also shares an address with the Aldershot Pool, a community facility that features two indoor warm water swimming pools.
