David Suzuki Secondary (DSSS) was originally founded in 2011, and is noted for its high level of computer technology. Today the school is rated as a good public high school, and it offers a wide assortment of academic courses for students.
In addition to its academic programs, the school is uniquely focused on environmental issues, as espoused by its namesake, David Suzuki.
Who is David Suzuki?
David Suzuki is a prominent Canadian scientist, environmental activist, author, and broadcaster. He hosted a popular science program on Canadian television called The Nature of Things, which was broadcast here and internationally for over 40 years.
Suzuki is a Companion of the Order of Canada.

DSSS also has an association with the Credit Valley Conservation Authority that further deepens connections with environmental awareness. The CVCA has received support from the David Suzuki Foundation for many environmental initiatives in southern Ontario.

Dual Credit Program
Dual Credit programs provide grade 11 and 12 students with an opportunity to earn both college and non-compulsory secondary credits at the same time. College credits earned may be applied to a college program after high school. Students can choose from more than 50 courses at colleges such as Centennial, George Brown, Humber, Seneca and Sheridan.
Explore High Skills
Explore High Skills (EHS) is a Peel District School Board pathway program for grade 9 and 10 students that is a precursor to the SHSM program. David Suzuki Secondary offers an EHS program for Sports.
SHSM
Once students reach Grade 11, they can also participate in two separate Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) programs: one for Sports, and one for Hospitality and Tourism.
French Language
Although there is no French Immersion offered at this high school, students can find French language instruction in Core French.
ESL
