
E.C. Drury School for the Deaf Milton
E.C. Drury School for the Deaf is part of a sprawling campus of specialized learning facilities in Milton, Ontario, Canada. It offers classroom education for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in grades K-12, with separate facilities for elementary and secondary school students.

There are approximately 190 students registered at this unique facility, comprised of 100 in elementary school, and 90 in secondary school. Services are provided for both dormitory and day students.
ECD is not part of the Halton District School Board, but is administered directly by the Province of Ontario. It is one of only three such schools for the hearing-impaired in Ontario, the other two being the Robarts School for the Deaf in London, Ontario, and the Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf in Belleville, Ontario.
Here at the Milton campus, and somewhat confusingly, there is also an unrelated Gary Allen High School located at the north end of the facility. It provides academic courses for non-hearing impaired adult learners who want to complete their high school diploma.
Gary Allen High School, of which there are several locations in Halton Region, is part of the Continuing Education Department of the Halton District School Board.
E.C. Drury School for the Deaf (ECD) was originally founded in 1963, and is noted for its high degree of specialization in academic offerings.

SHSM
E.C. Drury School for the Deaf high school offers a Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program for Arts & Culture.
Language
While there is no French language instruction offered at this school, extensive courses are offered in both spoken English, and American Sign Language (ASL). ASL is taught extensively from Kindergarten onward:
- elementary program – K to Grade 8 * American Sign Language (ASL) is taught through the ASL curriculum
 - secondary program – Grades 9-12 – includes basic, general, and advanced level courses, technical/vocational programs, extensive co-operative education and work experience programs
 
Credit Recovery
E.C. Drury School for the Deaf provides a Credit Recovery Program for students who may have struggled in a conventional school environment. High school students are able to gain missed credits through an individually tailored Credit Recovery Program.
Life Skills Program
E.C. Drury also offers a Life Skills Program, serving students who, for cognitive reasons, are not expected to achieve an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Students are taught independent living skills and vocational preparation.

Facilities
E.C. Drury School for the Deaf has had many additions and renovations over the years. Because of this some parts of the facility are newer than others. Nevertheless, overall the school offers a good assortment of modern classrooms and work spaces for students.
In addition, the school also features numerous drama and art rooms, music areas, a library, a large gymnasium, an indoor swimming pool, a fitness centre, plus athletic fields and computer study areas.

ECDHS has sports teams for both its elementary and its high school (Spartans), and offers a decent assortment of athletic opportunities for students, including:

School and Nearby Amenities
For recreation, E.C. Drury School for the Deaf has a large gymnasium, the aforementioned rather impressive indoor swimming pool, and a full assortment of track and field facilities.
YMCA Child Care Centre
The YMCA provides an onsite licensed child care centre at the school for children of all hearing capabilities, aged 18 months to 12 years. The Y also has an ongoing series of children’s day camps, and enrichment programs throughout the year.
The school is located in central Milton, and there are plenty of parks and commercial areas nearby.
