Iona Catholic Secondary School is a highly rated separate high school situated in the Clarkson area of southwest Mississauga.

The school is a participant in the Regional Arts and Culture Program (RAP) with intensive courses in music, dance, drama, and visual arts. It offers academic classroom instruction for grades 9-12.
Iona Secondary school has a large catchment area, serving Clarkson, Lorne Park, and the Sheridan Homelands areas of Mississauga. There are currently approximately 750 students registered at the school.
As with most Catholic high schools, students here are required to wear uniforms while attending classes.
Special Programs
ICSS was founded in 1993, and while it offers a full academic curriculum for all students, it is especially noted for its extensive course offerings in the arts.
Regional Arts and Culture Program (RAP)
Iona offers a wide variety of enrichment programs under the Regional Arts and Culture Program (RAP) umbrella. These courses include drama, instrumental and vocal music, dance, and visual arts.
The RAP program begins with a Grade 9 introductory course, and proceeds with the following:
- grade 9 students enroll in one of five arts discipline courses (Drama, Instrumental Music, Visual Art, or Vocal)
- upon reaching grade 10, they partake in an intake process/audition and declare their intent to enroll in the Regional Arts and Culture Program (RAP)
- once enrolled, students take 2 art credits each year (one each semester) in their chosen discipline. They continue in this program until they complete grade 12
- upon graduation, in addition to an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, students receive a Regional Arts and Culture Program Certificate
SHSM
The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) is another extensive program that offers a broad range of specialized topics for students beginning in Grade 11. See our detailed description of SHSM.
Iona Catholic Secondary School offers several Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) programs, including for Arts and Culture.
In addition, other SHSM programs are available at the school including Business, and Justice, Community Safety & Emergency Services.
Dual Credits
ICSS also participates in the Dual Credits Program, where students can earn college credits while still in high school.
French Language
While French immersion and Extended French are not offered at Iona Secondary, these programs are available at nearby Loyola Catholic Secondary School. Iona does offer basic Core French classes.
OYAP
Finally, the school also offers an Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) for skilled trades.

As a relatively recently built school, Iona offers a good assortment of modern classrooms and work spaces for students.
The school also features numerous drama and art rooms, various areas for its music department, a large gymnasium, a fitness centre, plus athletic fields and computer study areas.

School and Nearby Amenities
The school is located just off the South Service Road of the QEW, near Southdown Road. Iona has outdoor track and field areas, and a large gymnasium.
Sheridan Mall is very close, offering both shopping and dining services, and the Clarkson GO Station is also only a short distance away.
