
Cawthra Park Secondary – a Regional Arts School
Cawthra Park Secondary School is a unique public high school situated in the southeast corner of Mississauga. There are currently just over 1300 students registered at this large and respected facility.
What makes Cawthra Park unique is that it is one of only two designated Regional Arts Schools in Peel Region.
In addition to being a regular high school offering the usual courses for students in grades 9-12, the school also offers an extended curriculum of studies in the arts. Courses are offered in music (both instrumental and vocal), dance, drama, and visual arts. Students are required to audition in order to participate in the Regional Arts Program.
Cawthra Park also offers a Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) in Arts and Culture.
At this high school, students can find French language instruction in Core French.
The school is also a participant in the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) for skilled trades.

Facilities
Although CPSS was founded over 50 years ago, it offers a good assortment of modern classrooms and work areas for students.
In addition, the school also features numerous drama and art rooms, a professional 650 seat auditorium, video animation studios, numerous music areas, a library, three large gymnasiums, a fitness center, plus athletic fields and more than a dozen computer and robotics lab areas.
The school also shares a six-lane, 25 metre swimming pool with nearby Carmen Corbasson Community Centre. The entrance to the pool is located on Atwater Avenue behind the school.

School and Nearby Amenities
For recreation, Cawthra Park Secondary School has two large gymnasiums, and a full assortment of track and field facilities. The school is located in the southeast part of Mississauga, serving the Lakeview area. It is relatively close to the commercial areas that line Lakeshore Rd. E., as well as the Dixie Outlet Mall. The school has easy access to both Lakeshore Road, and the QEW Highway. The nearest GO Station is Long Branch.

Student enrollment for the Regional Arts program actually includes all of Mississauga south of the 401 Highway. You can see that the boundary map for traditional schooling covers a large area extending from the Lake Ontario shoreline in the south, to Dundas St. W. in the north, with an irregular boundary on its western edge, roughly following Cliff Rd, extending to Hurontario St. for a portion.
