Applewood Heights Secondary School is a legacy public high school situated in an established area of east Mississauga, offering schooling for grades 9-12. There are currently nearly 1300 students registered at this large and respected facility.

Applewood Heights Secondary (AHSS) was originally founded in 1966, and has expanded over the years. Today the school is rated one of the better public high schools in Ontario, and it offers a wide assortment of academic courses for students.

AHSS has a long list of specialized courses and programs.
Regional Sports Program
Applewood Heights has a strong focus on athletics, and offers a special Regional Sports Program (RSP) under the Peel School District Regional Learning Choices Program administrative umbrella.
This is the only public secondary school in Peel Region to offer the Regional Sports Program. Students from across Peel Region, and even outside of Peel, are able to apply.
The program is offered throughout Grades 9-12, and offers intense training for sports-minded students, as well as providing leadership opportunities for those interested in a career in athletics.
SHSM
In addition to the RSP, once students reach Grade 11, they can also participate in two separate Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) programs: one for Sports, and one for Health and Wellness.
French Immersion
At this high school, students can find French language instruction in both Core French, as well as French Immersion.
ESL
Applewood Heights provides extensive English as a Second Language (ESL) programs led by teachers with substantial experience working with students in ESL.
OYAP
The school is also a participant in the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) for skilled trades.

For recreation, Applewood Heights Secondary School has a large gymnasium, and a full assortment of track and field facilities.
The school is located in the east-central part of Mississauga, and as a result, offers close access to the busy commercial areas along Dundas St., and Dixie Road.

Applewood Heights boundaries cover a large area extending from the QEW Highway in the south, to the 401 Highway in the north, with an irregular boundary on its western edge, covering both Hurontario St. as well as Cawthra Rd. It’s eastern boundary follows a line along Dixie Road.
