The Co-operative Education Program (co-op) allows students to earn credits by integrating course curriculum with learning at a work placement.
Students can participate through apprenticeship, college, community living, university, or in the workplace.
Co-op programs can be designed to include up to four credits per semester to a maximum of 12 co-op credits towards the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Students are monitored and supported in their learning by the placement supervisor and co-op teachers.
Dual Credit Program
Dual Credit programs provide grade 11 and 12 students with an opportunity to earn both college and non-compulsory secondary credits at the same time.
College credits earned may be applied to a college program after high school.
Students can choose from more than 50 courses at colleges such as Centennial, George Brown, Humber, Seneca and Sheridan.
Explore High Skills
Explore High Skills (EHS) is a Peel District School Board pathway program for grade 9 and 10 students that is a precursor to the SHSM program. Sandalwood Heights Secondary offers EHS programs for Business, and for Health and Wellness.
Once students reach Grade 11, they can also participate in two Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) programs: one for Business, and one for Health and Wellness (introduced in 2023).
Although there is no French Immersion offered at this high school, students can find French language instruction in Core French.
Sandalwood Heights provides extensive English as a Second Language (ESL) programs led by teachers with substantial experience working with students in ESL.

Parents would probably expect that a newer school such as Sandalwood Heights high school would offer a good assortment of modern classrooms and work spaces for students. That assessment would be correct.
