CLARKSON MISSISSAUGA real estate including RATTRAY MARSH homes

Clarkson is a neighbourhood in the city of Mississauga, and it is blessed with a wide range of real estate options, including a very exclusive natural wetlands area known as the Rattray Marsh. Clarkson real estate offers both affordable starter homes, plus some of the most exclusive estate properties in the city. The community is located in the southwest corner of Mississauga, along the northern shore of Lake Ontario. It is bordered by Lake Ontario to the south, Oakville to the west, Erindale and Erin Mills to the north, and Lorne Park to the east.

Clarkson gets its name from one of its first settlers, Warren Clarkson, who arrived in the township in 1808 and remained there till his death in 1882. It was first referred to as Clarkson's Corners and boasted a general store and post office, run by the Clarkson family.

Clarkson was renowned for its fruit growing, particularly apples and strawberries, and was considered the strawberry capital of Ontario. It contains many heritage buildings including Benares Historic House and the Bradley Museum.

Clarkson also has a wonderful nature area called the Rattray Marsh, renowned for its undistrurbed wetland, birdwatching, and scenic pathways and boardwalks. The houses surrounding the Rattray Marsh are highly sought after.

Clarkson has a GO station, providing direct access to downtown Toronto via the Lakeshore West line. There is also extensive Mississauga Transit bus service throughout Clarkson with multiple lines feeding into the GO station, and providing access to the main hub at Square One. The Erin Mills Parkway / Southdown Road interchange of the QEW provides convenient access to this major highway, and Highway 403 is also nearby. The main roads in the Clarkson area are Lakeshore Road West, Southdown Road, and Royal Windsor Drive.
